Bolton, MA – In mid November, WeatherFlow technicians installed two new premium weather stations along the southern shores of Long Island. Located atop Shinnecock Light, near Southampton, and on a Grass Island marker, near Gilgo State Park, these two weather stations will be beneficial to both the National Weather Service and the United States Coast Guard alike. These new stations will help fill valuable NWS data. Meanwhile, in collaboration with the USCG, the Grass Island station also includes a water temperature sensor. This will be of interest to the USCG’s mission as they study the correlation between the water temperature in the Great South Bay and the frequency of search and rescue missions.
