Troy, MI – In the end of September, two teams of WeatherFlow technicians installed six new weather stations across Lakes Michigan and Erie. In Lake Michigan, technicians installed weather stations off the shores of Racine, WI at the Racine Reef Light, in northern Green Bay at Minneapolis Shoal Light, at Grand Traverse Bay’s Elmwood Township Marina and at Saugatuck Pier. In Lake Erie, sensors were installed near the mouth of the Detroit River on the Detroit River Light and at the west entrance to the Cleveland harbor near Edgewater Marina. These news sensors increase WeatherFlow’s network in the Great Lakes watershed to 30.
These new weather stations provide data to popular sailing and fishing areas where data had been lacking. As a result, these latest additions to WeatherFlow’s Great Lakes network will provide valuable data to mariners and to the National Weather Service. The data will also benefit the USCG SAROPS.
