Poquoson, VA – In a unique, academic/private partnership, WeatherFlow has teamed up with the University of North Carolina’s Coastal Studies Institute to provide a valuable data set for the meteorologically-dynamic Outer Banks region. WeatherFlow technicians have installed a full meteorological station (measuring air temperature, air pressure, wind speed, and wind direction) and have added instrumentation to measure water temperature and water level. Instruments are located on an observing platform in Croatan Sound, just offshore of the Coastal Studies Institute’s property in Wanchese, NC. This partnership provides researchers with full access to a wealth of near real-time data. It also adds another valuable data point to WeatherFlow’s robust observing network in the Outer Banks and beyond.
