About WeatherFlow Networks
WeatherFlow Networks and WeatherFlow-Tempest provide custom data-driven weather
solutions to homeowners and Fortune 500 companies alike. WeatherFlow technology is
used daily to make informed decisions on recreational activities, home automation,
financial consulting, and public safety. Our mission is to help confront and mitigate the
enormous cost of weather on business and daily life.
About the Role
WeatherFlow Networks, Inc is looking to hire a full-time field service engineer (FSE) to
help maintain and grow its mesonet of automated weather stations. These weather
stations are largely located in the coastal regions of the continental United States, with a
small number of installations in Hawaii, Canada, the Caribbean, and parts of Europe.
Description
The major duty of a FSE is the installation and maintenance of automated weather
stations. The position is roughly 50% travel, alternating one week of field work with one
week of office work. Due to the nature of the job, working from home is not a viable
option (however, occasional WFH days can be arranged.)
A typical fieldwork week involves flying to a region and driving from weather station to
weather station in that region for repairs or new installations. Aspects of fieldwork can
be physically demanding, requiring the climbing of structures such as cell towers,
30-foot-tall concrete poles, and U.S. Coast Guard navigation aids. Additionally, there is
frequent work over the water and from small boats. As such, all FSE receive
company-paid and OSHA approved climbing instruction, rescue training, and safety
certification.
When not working in the field, a FSE works out of the Hudson, MA office on logistics for
upcoming field work. Some of these logistics include testing and building weather
station components, packing and shipping equipment, and maintaining and ordering
inventory.
Good FSE’s are organized, independent, and responsible. Typically, they work in pairs.
They think on their feet and adapt to sudden problems associated with flight delays or
inclement weather.
We will train a candidate in the skills needed for the job. An interest in meteorology and
a bachelor’s degree in STEM are helpful, but we will consider candidates with other
strong qualifications.
