Operational Meteorologist
Job Summary:
WeatherFlow-Tempest is seeking a detail-oriented meteorologist to provide precise, region-specific wind forecasts as part of our operational forecasting team.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide wind forecasts for specific locations and time frames (Columbia River Gorge and/or New England)
- Interpret meteorological data from multiple sources (models, satellite, observational)
- Deliver concise, accurate, and actionable reports to our customers
- Be available for occasional briefings or consultations (virtually, & would typically take place on weekday afternoons)
Requirements
- Ability to work weekends
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with meteorological models (e.g., HRRR, NAM, GFS, WRF)
- Proficient in using computer systems and software applications
- Reliable internet access and computer setup
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
- Previous operational forecast experience (2+ years preferred)
- Familiarity with local wind patterns in the areas covered (Columbia River Gorge and/or New England) would be nice, as would a familiarity with wind or water sports (sailing, kiteboarding, surfing, windsurfing, and/or fishing.
