Getting our observational data rapidly and reliably from the field and into the system is one of our most significant challenges, and our engineers have perfected a number of methods that allow us to operate in and submit our data from the most remote and austere locations. Communications paths currently include telephone land lines, directional VHF radio systems, GPRS cell phone modems, satellite communications, and wifi systems. Once received, our data is stored at a Tier 1 Colocation provider, with state-of-the-art power and communications systems, including built in redundancy and backup services.
On the delivery end, our IT professionals have pioneered a wide variety of techniques and media to deliver critical weather information to the end user in a timely and cost-effective manner. Over the years, WeatherFlow has always exploited the latest technology to speed the data to our customers, evolving from phone and pager services to web portals, email, text messaging, RSS feeds, Google Earth, and mobile devices. We are continuously refining and improving our delivery applications, with a current focus on our iPhone and Android applications, which have rapidly become one of the most popular weather downloads.
