WeatherFlow’s strategy for installing stations is to be complementary to the official observing network – to fill in the gaps in the official network, not to repeat it. This has two benefits: first, it allows us to be cost efficient by being able to take full advantage of existing assets, and second, it allows us to focus exclusively on the needs of our clients and how to optimize our stations to meet their needs.
As a result, our stations are found right where our customers need them – whether it is a coastal Florida community that has a high risk of hurricanes, upwind of a major wind farm, or supporting emergency managers in the midst of a densely populated urban area. Each station and mesonet is designed and sited using our systematic planning process, with an optimized balance of meteorological analysis, operational impact, and cost.
