David then went on to study meteorology formally at Pennsylvania State University. His studies fostered an interest in all types of weather, with a keen focus on broadcast meteorology. David interned with the campus weather broadcasting channel and followed that up with a job as Weather Producer at WNBC at 30 Rockefeller in New York City. He soon realized he didn’t want to be an on-air meteorologist and took a job as a marine forecaster with a company based in the California Bay Area that provides ship routing/forecasting in all ocean basins of the world. David’s specialty was the United States West Coast, the North Sea, the Far East, and especially coastal regions. His fascination with coastal weather compelled him to begin work with WeatherFlow-Tempest, specifically for the Puget Sound and Columbia River Gorge.
When David is not working, he likes to apply his meteorological skills to using his private pilot’s license, play competitive racquetball, and hike with his young family.
