Matt Souders joined WeatherFlow in the spring of 2019. He got his Masters degree in Atmospheric Science from Stony Brook University, on Long Island, NY, in 2013. His working group had a strong focus on coastal weather and his own research focused on high-impact coastal storms. Following graduation, Matt worked for a couple of private weather firms. An interesting facet of his past work was his focus on long-range weather pattern recognition/prediction.
Being the son of a Navy submariner, Matt grew up on both the Atlantic and Pacific coasts and has always had a love of boating. Hence, Matt is at home with WeatherFlow’s coastal forecasting team.
When not working, Matt and his wife, an oceanographer who conducts research on the water, spend many a day boating near their home in coastal New Hampshire and navigating to their cottage in Boston Harbor. Yet, when off the clock and off the water, Matt can often be found discussing his other passion… his beloved Seattle Mariners.
