Spencer McCormick joined the WeaherFlow team in March of 2021 while in the final months of his undergraduate studies to earn a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology and a minor in Environmental Sustainability at the University of Oklahoma. During his time in Oklahoma, Spencer enhanced his forecasting skills, including synoptic and mesoscale analysis, severe weather communication, and thunderstorm dynamics.
Spencer grew up in west Michigan and started sailing at age 9. By age 17, he had become a certified US Sailing Instructor and began teaching at the White Lake Sailing School where he taught students the basics of sailing, how to read the wind, racing tactics, and the basics of weather. Though no longer at the sailing school, he spends his summer weekends racing E-scows and Lasers in his local yacht club’s weekend series. And when not working or on the water, Spencer enjoys spending time with his dog Benji, mountain biking, downhill skiing, storm chasing, and cooking.
